5th graders are hard at work on their Art to Remember project for the PTA. They drew trees in silhouette. Next they divided their paper into four sections, one for each season. Patterns were chosen to represent the seasons, and markers and colored pencils are being used to complete their artwork.
5th grade students are learning about the history and music of The Nutcracker. In art, they are learning to use simple shapes to draw their nutcracker. They are using watercolor as well as metallic paint to complete their project.
Fifth graders are learning about value (the lightness and darkness of a color). They are painting value scales which will be the background for the next part of their projects.
5th graders are beginning the year with an op art lesson. They drew their straight and curved lines and are starting to add color.
In case you weren't able to attend, here are some highlights of the artwork displayed at this past Monday's spring concert.
5th graders are working with SUNY New Paltz student teacher, Rebecca Spodick, to do quick figure drawings in action. These will be used to help them create their own superheroes in our next class.
5th graders are learning about American artist Jim Dine. They are using his heart sculptures and paintings as inspiration for their projects. They are also learning about analagous colors, and choosing two to color their hearts.
