3rd graders are starting off our virtual year playing a game called Roll a Landscape. We are rolling the dice to decide what type of foreground and background we will have, along with details. Some of the combinations are a little silly!
Third graders learned about artist Henri Matisse and his famous painting "Red Fish". They created drawings based on his painting, using cylinders and patterns. They are choosing what materials to use to finish their master pieces!
Third graders are starting this year off with their clay project. They are creating owls with feather texture, which will be fired in the kiln and painted.
3rd graders are working with SUNY New Paltz student teacher, Rebecca Spodick, to experiment with watercolors. They are using techniques like wet on wet, drip painting, splattering and wax resist to achieve different results. They will use their newfound knowledge to create watercolor landscapes.
Third graders are learning about radial symmetry and reviewing warm and cool colors while creating their rose windows. They are working on transparent paper, so the windows will allow light through, just like the real thing!
3rd graders learned about the history of Polynesian tiki masks. They discussed how they have symmetry and exaggerated features. They created their own paper tikis using a batik method with crayon and paint.
